A Song of Free Love
Copyright © 2009
- Who will write us an anthem,
- Who will stand and sing our pride,
- Who will mourn with requiem,
- Those who have died,
- So youth is free today,
- With sadness cast aside,
- And proud to be gay?
-
- Who will wipe the tears,
- From those who understand,
- The loss of all our years,
- The rights of all Mankind,
- To live and love without fears,
- And let it be sung, none shall rescind,
- The freedoms won by queers?
-
- Who will write us a song of love,
- Who will stand and sing by our side,
- Who will celebrate the right to love,
- Denying those who lied,
- About hatred from above,
- To stop us as we tried
- Living lives of free love?
-
- Who will thank us for their liberty,
- With songs of pride that praised,
- Our solidarity,
- In our crusade,
- Of Love's true cause,
- Even as we slaved,
- Against unjust laws?
-
- Who will sing against,
- The loss of human rights,
- For fearless days,
- And happy nights,
- Of peace that stays,
- With no more fights,
- About our loving ways?
-
- Who will know life's meaning,
- If joys of humanity,
- Are denied marrying,
- With our cry for liberty,
- By not accepting
- Love's insanity,
- As the sanctity of living?
-
- No call to arms shall be made,
- Which does not embrace,
- Compassion for the whole human Race,
- No more wars on love,
- With words of hate,
- No more shall we enslave,
- Ourselves or our fate.
-
- We know our destiny is to see
- Our love is what makes us free.
-
- Who will sing a song of freedom,
- Who will dance to life and gaiety,
- Who will sing our anthem,
- Of our love and joy in living free?
- Oh, let it be, you and me.
